Kayèl, derived from the Saint Lucian Kwéyòl (Creole) words la-kay meaning 'home' and ayèl meaning 'ancestors', pays homage to the rich culture and ancestral roots of the tropical shores of the Caribbean and coastal regions of Africa.

Spurred on by my natural hair journey in 2014, I wanted to discover and understand this new texture and version of my identity. But to study the hair on my head wasn’t enough. I had to go deep into my roots. I had to go far back in my history.
Kayèl Naturals began as my own effort to create tailor-made solutions for my hair but soon became a platform to tell the story of the powerful men and extraordinary women who came before me, a preservation of the indigenous methods and practices they used and a celebration of the rich beauty and tradition of their communities.

Born and raised on the lush island of Saint Lucia, I have created Kayèl Naturals to pay homage to the rich culture of the nation's tropical shores, and to encourage and promote self-acceptance, rest and relaxation. Today I have made it my mission to empower every curly beauty to celebrate and embrace their beginnings.
